Power Up Your PDF Capabilities with Toolkit Expansion Pack

Recently, the engineering team at ActivePDF came together with an idea to expand on the hundreds of methods and properties of DocGenius™ Toolkit. As the flagship product at ActivePDF for nearly 18 years, Toolkit is the award-winning server-based PDF solution used by global-based businesses to create, view, modify and archive digital documents.

What our engineers came up with is the aptly named Toolkit Expansion Pack, giving everyone’s favorite PDF solution more capabilities and flexibilities. This new PDF solution is a set of server-based components that work together to flatten, extract and print text and image files. In this blog, we take a closer look at these solutions and explain how they will make a difference in your day-to-day business workflow.

To get started with Toolkit Expansion Pack, you’ll need a Toolkit license and a Toolkit Expansion Pack license. Other requirements include Microsoft® Windows Server 2008 R2, 2012 R2 or 2016; Microsoft® .NET Framework 4.5; 350MB of RAM; and 175MB of hard disk space (for application).

Here’s a quick overview of each of the main components of Toolkit Expansion Pack:

Working together with Toolkit to create rasterized PDF files, Rasterizer converts PDF files into single or multiple flattened images, depending on the specified requirements. Rasterizer makes it easy to quickly convert PDF files into image files such as JPEG, TIFF, multi-page TIFF, PNG, and other image or pixel-based files.

Users can customize images by adding annotations upon output, set gamma corrections, color inversions, set image size, scale factor, rotate files, and more. Rasterizer also sets dots-per-inch (DPI) of rendered pages, allowing resolution control for higher quality printing.

One of ActivePDF’s most unique products is now a valuable component of Toolkit Expansion Pack. Xtractor is a versatile server-based tool that captures and extracts text and images from PDF files accurately and securely. Extracted text and images can then be used to automate document workflow, enhance usability, add to a database and/or archive.

Xtractor is included in Toolkit Expansion Pack to round out and enhance the user experience when working with Rasterizer and Spooler. Xtractor is a proven solution allowing users to easily search for and extract data from PDF files.

Spooler is the component that gives Toolkit the ability to programmatically print PDF documents to a specified printer with configurable settings. Spooler provides flexibility when printing PDF files through N-Up printing, which shrinks PDF files and can print two pages, side-by-side on a single document, print-to-scale and set print properties related to the printer and the generation of the PDF files. The user-friendly Spooler is supported by COM (32 and 64 bits) and .NET API.

Not only does Spooler allow users to print documents to one or more physical printers, it also supports many use-cases through virtual printers. By adding just a few lines of code, users can set and customize printer properties to receive information such as name, color, print range, etc. To learn more, visit ActivePDF’s Spooler Examples Page.

Toolkit Expansion Pack is a problem solver – helping businesses do more with their high-volume, document automation processes. Bringing together three optimal solutions in one package under the Toolkit umbrella gives users a more complete way of modifying files, searching and extracting data, flattening images and printing PDF files with accuracy and flexibility.
