activePDF Server, DocConverter, and WebGrabber operate as services. The services must meet a certain configuration level in order to function correctly. The activePDF services are dependent on the operating system Print Spooler service, so this service is important as well.

Running
The service is installed and running.

Service Not Found
The installation is incomplete or corrupt.
- Log in as the Local Administrator.
- Click Start>Run, type Control Panel, and then click OK.
- Double-click Add or remove Programs.
- Locate the related program and then click Remove.
- Restart your machine to ensure any queue files are deleted.
- Log in as the Local Administrator.
- Install the software to the defaults.
If the issue persists, submit an activePDF Technical Support ticket at http://www.activepdf.com/support/supportprogram/supportservices/. Submitting a ticket generates an auto response email. Gather your log files, then reply to the email and attach your log files.

Service Not Running
The service is not currently running. You must start the services using the Services tab or services console.

Service EXE does not exist
An executable file in the System32 folder physically represents the services on your machine. If the file is missing, the service cannot run. You need to manually verify the files existence.
- Log in as the Local Administrator.
- Click Start>Run, type System32, and then click OK.
- Verify if the missing file corresponding to the service exists:
- activePDF DocConverter: APDOCCNV.exe
- activePDF DocConverter SystemOnly Launch: APDCSYSO.EXE
- activePDF Server: APServer.exe
- activePDF WebGrabber: APWebGrb.exe
- Print Spooler: spoolsv.exe
NOTE: Consult your operating system documentation if spoolsv.exe is missing.
If the files exist, verify you are logged in as the Local Administrator and Refresh the Support Log.
If the files do not exist:
- Log in as the Local Administrator.
- Click Start>Run, type Control Panel, and then click OK.
- Double-click Add or remove Programs.
- Locate the related program and then click Remove.
- Restart your machine to ensure any queue files are deleted.

- Install the software to the defaults.

Start type = Manual
Requires a user to manually start the service before use and does not automatically start when the system starts. You will need to switch the Startup type to Automatic.
- In Support Tools, click Services, and then click Services Console.
- In the Services Console, locate the corresponding service name(s) below, right-click the service and then select Properties.

- On the General tab, select Automatic for the Startup type, and then click Apply.

The service must be set to Automatic before use and does not automatically start when the system starts or by a manual attempt. You will need to switch the Startup type to Automatic.
