No Child Left Behind Reform

activePDF is committed to supporting educational establishments in their quest to make information available to those with disabilities. The No Child Left Behind Reform was introduced by George W. Bush and represents a landmark in education reform in the USA. It is designed to improve every student’s achievement levels and change the culture in America’s schools. Under No Child Left Behind every public school student’s progress in reading and math must be measured in grades 3 through 8 and at least once in grades 10 through 12. These assessments will give parents and teachers with objective data on where each child stands academically. These statewide assessments will also identify whether any students need special accommodation to help boost their achievements.

IDEA 97

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA 97) is an U.S. law that guarantees all children with disabilities access to free and appropriate public education. This Act strengthens academic expectations and accountability for the nation’s 5.8 million children with disabilities and bridges the gap that has too often existed between what children with disabilities learn as opposed to what is actually required in regular curriculum. IDEA 97 has been successful in ensuring that children with disabilities and the families of such children gain access to a free public education and in improving educational results for children with disabilities in an inclusive, non-discriminatory manner.
