activePDF.com - activePDF Meridian 2010 Release

activePDF Announces the Release of activePDF Meridian 2010

Mission Viejo, California , April 7, 2010 – activePDF, Inc. a leading provider of server-based PDF creation, conversion and development tools for Microsoft Windows®, today announced the immediate availability of activePDF Meridian 2010, which provides users with a flexible, server-based mechanism to produce high-quality PDF files.

The only networkable, server-based PDF printer that supports client-side delivery of the output PDF, activePDF Meridian enables administrators to deploy centralized PDF creation to users across the enterprise, harnessing the processing power of server machines while still providing client-side control. Highlights from Meridian’s robust feature set include:

  • Support for network-based Print-to-PDF capabilities, via both direct user interaction and programmable API
  • “Point and Print” setup for clients with no separate software to install
  • Eliminates the guesswork of PDF creation for end users while ensuring business rules are enforced
  • Offers full control over PDF output settings including font embedding, security, resolution, stamping, watermarking, and more
  • Supports PDF/A and PDF/X output
  • Easy-to-use administrative console simplifies software maintenance and updates
  • Both 32 bit and 64 bit client drivers have been tested to meet all of the technical requirements to be “Compatible with Windows® 7” and “Compatible with Windows® Vista”

By enabling centralized management of PDF creation, activePDF Meridian alleviates the hassle of managing myriad desktop PDF creators for IT administrators, while ensuring consistent, enterprise-quality PDF output. “The proliferation of free PDF creators creates the scenario where corporate wide demands on quality and reliability with output PDFs cannot be controlled,” comments Tim Sullivan, CEO of activePDF, Inc. “Centralized on the server, with no per-user or per-document restrictions, Meridian offers an inherent value proposition to organizations looking for affordable PDF creation, bringing them high-quality output without the support and maintenance overhead of desktop tools.”

Deployment is as simple as installing activePDF Meridian on the Windows server machine. Client access is as easy as attaching to a Meridian-based printer using “Point and Print” technology or network administrators can even push out installations via a group policy. Users then simply print to the Meridian printer and the output PDF is delivered almost instantly back to the client machine or, optionally, to an email address, FTP or other network location as specified by the administrator, depending on their business rules. Administrators can configure multiple PDF profiles with a host of settings , allowing for different flavors of PDF as dictated by various departmental or organizational needs. An optional API allows developers to tap into Meridian’s robust functionality, enabling programmatic Print-to-PDF conversion from Windows-based client applications.
