Document Conversion using PrimoPDF API
This month's tech tip provides a C++ example which uses PrimoPDF to convert a Microsoft Word document to PDF, using PrimoPDF API. This functionality can be useful in cases where you would like to automate PDF generation directly on the client's desktop, as opposed to generating on a server. In addition to using PrimoPDF API, this example employs the Word API to set printing parameters as well as automate the printing process, and requires that Microsoft Word is installed on your system.

In order to streamline processes and provide its clients with better, more responsive service, Dilbeck required a more efficient system for producing property flyers. In assessing the business needs of its users, the Dilbeck IT team identified that producing PDF output was a critical requirement for the new system. Following a brief internet search, the Dilbeck IT team discovered activePDF Toolkit. "[We] liked what we saw and never searched elsewhere," stated Richard Seccombe, Director of Dilbeck's IT department, adding "The cost is very reasonable. The integrity of the software is as good as it gets."
